Blackberry Time

Blackberries are ripe and picking them always reminds me of Grandma. Every summer I would ask her if she would make a cobbler if I picked berries. And then there was Blackberry Hill on the old farm. Did anyone else call it that?

More often than not I would pick berries in shorts and come back all scratched up and she would fuss. I still do the same thing, but this time it was Ashley who told me I should wear long pants.

I still use Grandma's recipe to make cobbler and here it is in case you don't have it.

Melt one stick of butter in a baking dish. (I cut this back to 1/2 stick and it's still good)

Mix 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of self rising flour add one cup of milk to this mix. Pour over the melted butter. Add one quart of fruit and use spoon to make an 'x' through the mixture without stirring.

Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes or until brown on top.

Enjoy.

Hi Meighan,

I'm so glad you stopped by. I'll get mom to post grandma's jam cake recipe. I made blackberry jam with that in mind.

If you'd like to be added as an author, let me know and I'll send you an invite.

Tell your mom I said hi. I haven't seen her in ages. Probably since the reunion 18 years ago. Wow.
